As its Swedish name suggests, Hemma från Hemma is exactly that – a Home from Home. Quietly nestled in central Alnwick, this freshly and thoughtfully refurbished apartment offers every creature comfort needed for breaks both long and short.
At your journey’s end, let us introduce you to the Swedish concept of Fika (making time to share coffee, have a chat and something to eat). A selection of delicious complimentary cakes and Fika coffee will be laid out to greet you as well as a book for you to brush up on all things Fika!
A dedicated parking bay next to the apartment building will give you peace of mind from the outset of your holiday. Access to the apartment is gained through a doorway and staircase shared only with one other residence.
Once inside you will be greeted by a fresh Scandi vibe, a reflection of the owner’s Scandi roots, which flows seamlessly throughout. Modern, chic and tastefully furnished, no detail has been overlooked in this lovingly renovated abode. From the long hallway there is a family bathroom, complete with a luxury Jacuzzi style bath – perfect for a special holiday soak. There is also an overbath shower with shower screen.
The open plan living-dining- kitchen area is the perfect setting for socialising and cooking while on holiday. An L-shaped sofa and accompanying armchair offers comfortable seating for relaxing and enjoying time with family or friends. A Samsung Smart TV and soundbar are mounted on the wall for cosy movie nights, some chilled tunes or just entertaining the kids. The apartment also has high-speed fibre broadband – perfect for youngsters or if you have a little work to catch up on while you're away. The dining area provides space for four to dine around a table.
In the kitchen, every need has been thought of with the inclusion of a fridge/freezer, slimline dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, oven and induction hob. An added bonus, especially for longer breaks, is the utility room complete with Miele washing machine and separate Miele dryer.
Next is the spacious and beautifully decorated master bedroom with sumptuous king sized bed and en suite shower room. A built in wardrobe provides plenty of storage and hanging space. The second bedroom, accessed through a sliding door, provides a double bed and ample storage space. Linen and towels are provided.
The apartment has gas central heating, controlled by a Nest thermostat in the hallway. The cost of which, as well as the provision of linen and towels, is included in the price. A travel cot and high chair are also available in the apartment, should you require them.
Pets – the owners of Hemma från Hemma DO NOT permit pets of any kind in the apartment.
Hemma från Hemma is available for short breaks all year round EXCEPT the May half term and summer school holidays.
Hemma från Hemma has an enviable location in the centre of the delightful market town of Alnwick. The town alone has plenty to fill a holiday and most of the attractions can be accessed on foot from the apartment, such as Alnwick Castle (of Harry Potter fame), Alnwick Gardens, Barter Books and the Baillifgate Museum.
The apartment is also perfectly located for wandering the historic cobbled streets, browsing in the many independent shops and enjoying a cuppa whilst you watch the world go by.
If you wish to travel out of town there are a great many wonderful places to visit. The beaches of Northumberland, only a short drive away, are vast sandy paradises for walking and playing. Slightly further afield, the historic island of Lindisfarne and gorgeous Bamburgh Castle are well worth a visit.
A short drive out Alnwick takes you to the lovely Northumberland National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Here there are many opportunities for walking, cycling and horse riding as the area is covered by 700 miles of footpaths and rights of way. The magnificent Cheviot Hills, with their abundance of fascinating flora and fauna, are only a short drive away.
Cragside House, a fascinating and beautifully located National Trust property, is highly recommended, but you’ll need a whole day to experience both the house and gardens!

All bookings made more than six weeks in advance of your stay will require a deposit payment of 25% of the rental cost, plus a small 5% booking fee, with balance being due six weeks prior to your stay. All bookings made within six weeks of your stay will require payment to be made in full at the time of booking.
